The Coalition to Oppose the Expansion of US Ecology held a press conference and demonstration to stop the 10-fold increase in radioactive wastewater being shipped to Michigan.

“Detroit is already burdened by pollution from Marathon Oil Refinery and a huge incinerator. And now US Ecology wants to dramatically increase the amount of hazardous waste they bring into the city. We have learned tragic lessons from Flint. We have got to put a stop to this. We cannot let our community and our drinking water become contaminated,” said Diane Weckerle, retired public health nurse.”
